Already have ChatKeeper and just want your "Forever License"?
Just when I was about to announce the full release of the GUI, ChatGPT’s export format changed! But I’m glad I discovered that before announcing.
Yep, the contents of the export .zip file changed, so the conversations.json file is now split into multiple files (conversations-000.json, etc.) Not a huge change, but enough to require several code updates and lots of testing. Of course the old format is still supported.
I think it’s in a good spot, but it merits another Adventure Build round. Please let me know how it works for you!
Fixed and Added in This Release:
- Added handling for new ChatGPT export format!
- Added a link to an anonymous and optional survey. Any feedback is helpful!
- Added immediate update of the “Help & More” step after a license is installed.
- Fixed vertical centering of the image in the end summary dialog. Improved some wording while I was at it.
- Renamed the “Reset” button to “Reset My Options”
- (macOS only) Fixed menu bar label by changing “About Main” to “About ChatKeeper”
- (macOS only) Fixed an issue that could result in an erroneous message that an export file being dropped onto ChatKeeper is not valid.
- (website) switched the “check for updates” page to accept parameters via fragment identifiers rather than query parameters, so when visit the check for updates page it tells me nothing at all about what version your are running or when your license expires. Not that there is anything sensitive there, but I take your privacy seriously and don’t want to ask for any information that isn’t really needed.
Still In Progress
- Just more testing at this point…
Known Issues (working on them now)
- If an export file is invalid or corrupted, the error message doesn’t completely fit in the window. I’m not considering this a blocker for a full release.
If you are currently using the previous Adventure Build…
- Just download via the above links and install! No need to uninstall anything.
If you are currently using version 1.3.0 or earlier…
- Mac users: type
brew remove martian-software-inc/chatkeeper/chatkeeperin a terminal to remove the old version and avoid conflicts. - Everyone else: just delete the old chatkeeper executable.
